希爾斯堡慘案讓整個歐洲為之哭泣。
1989年4月19日，一場AC米蘭與皇家馬德里之間的歐洲冠軍杯半決賽開場6分鐘後，
主裁判中止了比賽，為希爾斯堡遇難者進行了1分鐘的默哀。
而在默哀時，AC米蘭球迷突然唱起了利物浦的隊歌“你永遠不會獨行”作為紀念。

MILAN - On April 15 1989, 96 Liverpool fans lost their lives at Sheffield as they were squashed by the crowd before the FA Cup with Notthingham. The Rossoneri football fans, protagonists like Liverpool in two recent Champions League finals, participate in their great pain. The San Siro stadium commemorated first the victims with a one minute silence and the chants of solidarity, just before the start of the Champions Cup semi final game between Milan and Real Madrid of April 19 1989.
