Chelsea and England defender Ashley Cole has revealed that the comparison made by Carlo Ancelotti with AC Milan great Paolo Maldini, though flattering, may not be accurate.

The former Italy defender, who was managed by Ancelotti, played beyond his 40th birthday, but Cole doubts that he will travel the same path.

“I would love to carry on as long as I can and be somewhere close to as successful as him because he had a great career," he told the Evening Standard.

“I can't see myself playing until I am 40 like Maldini. He was a machine and I am not. You don't get people like that too often — you might see it in goalkeepers but rarely does a centre-back or a left-back play with the quality he did."
