Galliani Opens The Door For Shevchenko

Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani insists his side need two decent strikers and he has opened the door for a return for Andriy Shevchenko.


The Rossoneri have been hunting Barcelona star Ronaldinho ever since his magic knocked them out of the Champions League in 2006.

However, they have not managed to strike a deal with Barcelona. Galliani believes the ‘Dinho deal can still be achieved, but he reveals that Chelsea’s Shevchenko is more likely to arrive.  

“It’s obvious that we need some strikers given Ronaldo’s injury,” said Galliani.  

“If Gilardino leaves then someone will have to come in, in that case we will need at least two strikers.  

“But let me reiterate that there are currently no negotiations for Gilardino.  

“Shevchenko? His name is likely to go into our possible arrivals list.  

“Ronaldinho and Zambrotta? Their price is still too high but there is still some time.”  

The Rossoneri will need to bolster their side in light of their Scudetto commitments next season.  

The club have recently announced that they will be focusing on domestic titles after putting all their efforts in Europe over the last few years.

Galliani's optimism regarding Shevchenko is somewhat contradictory to words earlier this week from coach Carlo Ancelotti, who named Amauri, Didier Drogba, Emmanuel Adebayor and Samuel Eto'o as potential transfer targets up front - one of them likely to be signed - and Shevchenko's name not uttered once.
