"For now I am working as a father, a difficult job, but if I receive an interesting offer then I could return to working in football,"
~Paolo Maldini~
Maldini interested in Milan return
AC Milan legend Paolo Maldini has revealed he is considering returning to the club in a non-playing capacity.
In a decorated career which spanned over two decades, Maldini made his debut for the Rossoneri in 1985 at the age of sixteen, before going on to claim seven Serie A titles, one Coppa Italia and five European Cups.
Maldini retired at the end of the 2008/09 season, just shy of his 41st birthday, and ended talk that he could stay on at the club by stating he was not interested in coaching.
However, it now appears he could still have a role to play with reports suggesting he could be hired as a club director.
While the 43-year-old maintains he has his hands fulls with fatherhood, he concedes he could be tempted if the right opportunity arose.
"For now I am working as a father, a difficult job, but if I receive an interesting offer then I could return to working in football," Maldini told Il Giorno.
"Football is my passion, my life and I know Milan like the back of my hand.
"If there are the right conditions, I would be very happy to come back to the team I love and give back, in part, the many things I received."
Following his retirement, Milan retired the number three jersey in tribute to Maldini, with the condition that it can only be activated again should one of his sons go on to play for the Rossoneri and request for the number.
