Kaka's Milan......
Join the Brazilian ace on a tour of the city he already calls home.......

Kaka's  Milan

Art, music, fashion on the doorstep.  Mountains and lakes round the corner……
Join the Brazilian ace on a tour of the city he already calls home.

He has been at Milan for just three years, but Kaka's brand of football on the pitch and personality off it have made him an icon already.  And the Brazilian has his own explanation for it.

“When Milan signed me, my first worry was how I would adapt to the new world.  I thought, The food will be horrible, the language terrible and football is impossible to play there.  But I am ready.”

I rose to the challenge and when I arrived, I figured that the food is wonderful, the language easy and the football hard, but a test.  That is why things worked out so well.”(**看到這種的說法,真的覺得Kaka得天獨厚,有這樣個性的小孩最幸福了...)

Italy's most cosmopolitan city, Milan is more than a fashion capital.  It is also the country's commercial and financial capital and boasts world renowned architecture, like the Duomo, la Scala, international arts and gastronomy.  Vibrant and busy, almost four million people live in Milan's metropolitan area.

Just 45km away, close to the mountains and lakes of the north, is Milanello the club's training ground, where most of the players choose to live. Not Kaka.

“I'd rather make the trip to Milanello every day than be far from the city and its fantastic cultural life.  I love to live here,” he says.  The journey does offer him the chance to practise his second favourite sport golf on the way home every day.

Besides everything Milan has to offer, I like the contact with the fans. Even when things are going badly on the pitch, people never lack respect for what you have done.  They always support me. In restaurants there is respect for my privacy and in the end I'll have some pictures taken and sign some autographs.”

Of course, it is the success, or failure of Milan's two clubs, AC Milan and Inter that dictate the city's mood.

“People get sad and bad humoured when we lose! And really happy and funny when we win,” Kaka says.  “ It seems everyone lives according to the football results.”

My favourite view
That's  a good question. Just recently reporters form the club magazine Forza Milan took me up to the roof of the San Siro to take pictures. And the view from there is breathtaking. You can see the whole of Milan, its old buildings and churches, and it's not noticeable how clean and well preserved the city is, wonderful. I'll definitely make them take me back up there.
I know not everyone can climb on to the roof of the stadium to check out the view, but I do recommend a visit to San Siro. It has a museum and you can get a guided tour.  Football fans would certainly enjoy it.

My favourite restaurant
I really like il Giardinetto(Via Tortona, 19). It's  a typical Italian cantina and really laid-back.
Everyone knows me there and they already know what I like…I don't  even need to read the menu.  They make their own pasta and one of the options they offer is to have a little bit of everything from all the different courses.  It's just wonderful, delicious.
The owners, the family Roffi, are adorable.  I recommend this cantina to all my Brazilian friends who come over to Milan and my team-mates often go to this restaurant as well.
Kaka)

My favourite bar/nightclub
Milan has a lively nightlife with plenty of pubs and discotheques, but I'm the kind of person who prefers daytime to night, so I don't often go out to bars or nightclubs, except, of course, when we're celebrating winning the title.  Anyway, when I do go out at night I like Finger’s (Via S Gerolamo Emiliani,2), where you can find some nice Japanese specialities. Or, apart from restaurants, what I like most is going go to the cinema and theatre.  I try to make the most of the rich cultural life the city has to offer and for example, I loved the Cirque du Soleil show here in Milan.

My favourite shops
I like walking along Via Montenapoleone in the centre.  It's a street full of the top designers- you can find some excellent shops there, some expensive ones as well.  Tourists often go there as it is one of the main places to visit in Milan and after all, the city is one of Europe's fashion capitals.  I like designer clothes and my favourite label has to be Armani.

My recommendations for tourists
Milan is a big city, but not as big as mine, Sao Paulo. But it is easier to control, to walk around and get to know everything. There are two must-see spots. One, needless to say, is Piazza Duomo – a really, really big cathedral and well worth a visit. It''s near to the shopping street I was talking about, Via Montenapoleone, plus the Scala Theatre and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele. The second place a tourist must go is Castello Sforzesco, a huge palace right in the middle of Milan. Inside the castle there are lots of interesting art exhibitions and fantastic antiques, paintings and so on.
The Duomo and the Castello are my favourites, but there are some important churches as well, such as Santa Maria delle Grazie, where you can see Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper. But there is so much for tourists to do in Milan.
